Review: Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence*

Adding a sun protection product is something new I have included in my skincare routine. It has contributed towards achieving healthy skin without the heavy-duty skincare ingredients that I used to apply to correct my skin. And Dear Klairs have just added in their own take on how a sunscreen should be called the Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence. Without spoiling too much, this product promises a lot and it 100% delivers it! By reading its name alone, it gives you a good indication on what the product is all about. This review is going to be all about my experience with the product and giving you guys my thoughts on it as well.

The Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence is a water-based sunscreen that is extremely different to your typical sunscreen. It is not not thick or tacky and does not leave a white cast on the skin. It is a soft, and light gel-like texture which has a rather low viscosity. It is milky in colour and contains no greasiness, yet it is also creamy enough to be easily distributed across your skin.
The best comparison I can make with the texture of the formula is very similar to NIVEA's Soft Light moisturisers, but a little softer and lighter, especially in the weight of the product. What surprised me most about this product was that it was named as an essence but it did not look like your typical essence at all. It applied like a gel-cream, but how it absorbs into your skin is a whole other story (in a good way, obviously).

This product claims to;
  • nourish your skin with Vitamins
  • brightens your overall complexion
  • improve your skin tone
  • give sun protection with an SPF 50+++
  • moisturise your skin, instantly relieving dry, itchy or irritated skin
And with these claims, I 110% agree with it! It's like no other sunscreen that I have ever tried! I absolutely love how it is a combination of a sunscreen, moisturiser and cream all in one tube. I also find myself not needing to use a primer underneath my makeup, as it lays very well under my foundation/concealer. It gives me this youthful glow from within that I love. However, because it contains the typical ingredients for sunscreen such as "Dibutyl Adipate, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate", it does dry down quickly and this means you have little time to spread it across your skin before it becomes harder to work with. Honestly, this isn't a problem to me as applying sunscreen is and should be a quick step in your daytime routine.

In terms of the formula of the product, it was cleverly designed to pair up with it's existing sisters the "KLAIRS Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop and KLAIRS Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask" to also help with pigmentation, dullness and skin tone as well. This is definitely something I have struggled with for a while but after using the Vitamin Drop and Vitamin E Mask, my dark spots have become fainter and it's a working progress. If you want to know more, I've previously blogged about the sisters in some previous blog posts. Now these products can easily be used alone, which is what I have done occasionally or be used in conjunction with one another. Do what's right for your skin!

Now lets' break down the main ingredients contained in this miracle sunscreen!
  • Vitamin (A, B3, C and E): these help to brighten your complexion as well improve the skin tone. Over time, it promises to protect your skin from ageing.
  • Beta Glucan/Panthenol/Allantoin: used to help relieve damaged skin from the sun's UV rays.
  • Sea Buckthorn Oil: helps soothes the skin from heat and also provides moisture to the skin as well.
  • Tocopherol: an antioxidant that fights against free radicals found in the skin, taken by the sun's UV rays.

Dear Klairs has said it is for all skin types and works just like any other sunscreen. The product comes in a travel-friendly squeeze tube with a little nozzle that makes it easy to dispense out product, especially on the go. Each tube contains about 80mL of product which is your typical size, but I honestly think they could have filled the tube a little more. (Just because I want to be a little critical). The average cost of this item is about $35 AUD and you can get this at Let's Face It website now! They offer Afterpay, so gives you a good reason to restock some of your favourites.

Now you know I am all for a good sunscreen, so if you have a recommendation for me, please do comment down below! I would love to explore and try out new ones. A girl can't have enough sunscreen and bubble tea. Haha!

Thanks for reading guys!
