Review: Laneige Mini Pore Waterclay Mask*

Tight, clear and healthy skin couldn't get easier than this. Laneige has the secret weapon that'll help draw out the impurities from your skin, while also giving you the tight, firm skin to keep you younger for longer! I cannot believe, this product was under my nose the whole time and I failed to discover it sooner. As you know guys know, Laneige makes one of my favourite skincare products of all time. And this has now included the Mini Pore Waterclay Mask. It is a miraculous product that has great versatility, while also does what it claims! Here, I share my thoughts on why this product has helped me.

For many years, I have been in love with clay masks and what it can do for my skin. I've tried so many masks from different brands, including the Origins, Derma E, Dermalogica, Glam Glow, Bobbi Brown and more, and truly believe in them! They have transformed my skin and is the most efficient and simple way to maintain healthy skin. Clay masks help draw out impurities, dirts and oils that have been built up under the skin. But some brands are definitely more effective than others.

The Laneige Mini Pore Waterclay Mask has one of the most unique and gentle formula that's ideal for most skin types, particularly great for combination, oily and acne-prone skin. It has a very thin gel-like consistency that is made from natural mineral -rich mud collected from the Yellow Sea. It is not as opague in coverage in comparison to other masks but spreads over the skin very smoothly and easily.  It comes in a beautiful and luxurious mint tube with the signature Laneige design.

This product claims to do the following:
  • effectively removes sebum, old skin cells, dirt, oils and other unwanted impurities
  • after use, gives tighter and firmer skin
  • has 'pore-minimising' technology that helps to reduce the size of your pores and in turn, reduces the appearances of blackheads and whiteheads (with continuous use)
  • has a quick-drying and powerful sebum-absorbing agent that's able to break down the oil barriers around your pores for deeper penetration
And I am behind all of these claims 110%! For years, I had never found a clay mask that worked better for my skin. I had loved my Bobbi Brown Instant Detox Mask for so long and now I must be moving on to something better.

This mask contains the following ingredients:
Water, Sea Silt, Kaolin, Glycerin, Bentonite, Alcohol, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Bud Extract, Phytosphingosine, Glyceryl Caprylate, Lecithin, Ceteareth-20, Cetyl Alcohol, Cellulose Gum, Stearyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Titanium Dioxide, Pentylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, CI 77499

There are so many great things going for this mask. It has a moisturising and gentle formula that is non-drying (even though it contains alcohol) and yet so incredibly powerful being able to remove all the sebum, oils and so on, embedded in your skin with one application. And it is able to do with the help of the 1400mg of natural Yellow Sea mineral mud. This ingredient is "a fine particle with a large surface area that enables to pick up sebum from the skin". Now, minerals found from the sea generally have a lot of skin benefits, such as being rich in oxygen, balances oil production, helps clear skin (commonly used with scrubs), promote skin cell regeneration, enables blood circulation and so on.

This product was targeted for people between the ages of 20-35 years and for those who reside in countries that have hot, humid or tropical climates, which are the ideal conditions for skin pore problems and breakouts. And this is the perfect description of Australia in just a few words. We have one of the world's harshest sun exposures and hence we have more prominent pore conditions. Now after a single use, test subjects had noticed a reduction of 6% of sebum and a removal of skin debris of 59.4%. This is incredible amazing results!

I had noticed the same results after one application.

Initial Application

After 8 Minutes
Due to its thin gel-like consistency, it's able to dry a lot quicker than most clay masks. This is incredible appealing to me. I had cleansed my skin and put the mask on. Once applied, the mask is a dark grey and gradually becomes a pale grey after completely dried. You also instantly feel this cooling and minty sensation on areas that you had applied the product. It does go away as the product dries down. This process helps to break down the barriers that would be clogging up your pores and help you have a deeper clean.

I use this mask twice a week, with additional uses for my blemishes, pimples for preventative and treatment purposes. Since I have combination skin, I generally would only apply the mask on areas which needed it, including my forehead, my cheeks, nose and chin (where my pores are prominent and I have the most oils peeking through the skin). You can definitely use it all over the skin and even on your dry areas but keeping in mind, you should still apply a moisturiser after use.

After 8 minutes, the results were as follows;

Despite having only applied one thin layer, the results are as clear as day. The mask had drawn out the excess oils and removed the sebum from my skin, which is indicated by the dark specks of grey above the pores. Most masks don't have a physical indicator to show you the condition of your skin and having this was remarkable helpful to monitor the health my skin. Though, this is nothing new or unique. You would have seen it in other well-know brands like Glam Glow's Super Mud Treatment.

To remove the mask, you can use a warm towel to get rid of the product in the most efficient way. But this isn't necessary. You can do the same with your hands to reveal beautiful, clean and firm skin. There will be a tightness that will still linger after removing the mask but this will go away after a moment.

Over time (after the first use) the number of specks, started to becomes less prominent and there were fewer on the skin. I had also noticed that I had fewer breakouts, blackheads and whiteheads, especially around my forehead and cheeks. This allowed me to have clearer and smoother skin, which made applying my makeup that much easier.

This mask had quickly became my holy grail and I highly recommend using it! This tube contains 70mL and retails for about $28-$40 (depending on where you buy it). Lucky for you guys, Let's Face It is currently having a sale where you can get it for $28AUD! It is 100% a must-have for both men and women.

Let me know in the comment if you have tried this mask or if there's another mask on the market that you think I should know about! As always, thanks for reading my beauties!

Product Disclaimer: Unfortunately, if you have eczema, rosacea and other skin types that easily get skin irritations, I would not recommend trying this out. You must also must leave the product in a cool area to maintain the effectiveness of the product. Do not use over expiry date as this will cause breakouts and be counterintuitive.  This mask has an expiry of 6 months after you have opened the lid.
